After an 8 year gap we held a Golf Classic on Thursday 7th August in East Cork Golf Club

30 teams took part with victory going to the AIB team,full results below.

1st AIB, 11 under gross with a 3.7 h/cap reduction = 54.3 

2nd Cormac Cahill,11 under gross with a 3 h/cap reduction = 55

3rd Conor Cahill, 9 under gross with a 3.2 h/cap reduction = 56.8

4th Brian Healy, 8 under gross with a 3.8 h/cap reduction = 57.2

5th Gerome O'Brien, 6 under gross with 4 h/cap reduction = 59

6th Ashley Walsh, 5 under gross with a 4.8 h/cap reduction = 59.2

7th Willie Ring, 4 under gross with a 5.7 h/cap reduction = 59.3

8th Auntie Biddies, 5 under gross with a 3.2 h/cap reduction = 60.8.

Nearest the Pin winner was Willie Ring on 18th Hole - 6ft 3 inches.

Longest Drive on 9th Hole = Conor Motherway.

Our Captains Prize was held in glorious sunshine over the Castlemartyr links on Sunday 22nd June.26 golfers took on the very demanding course with the rough particularily penal.

Congratulations to the popular winner Kevin Lawton who scored an impressive 44 points off a handicap of 19 to hold off the challenge of Willie Ring who brought in a very credible 42 pts off a handicap of 12.

The first major of the year takes place on Sunday 22nd June in Castlemartyr Golf Club with the staging of our Captains Prize for 2014.Our Captain Derek Eaton hopes to see as many members as possible playing on the day.

The current holder of the captains prize Kevin O'Lomasney is heading for an unprecedented third major in a row having captured both the Captains and Presidents Prize in 2013.

Presidents Prize 2013.

 The Presidents Prize ( Sean Motherway) for 2013 took place on Saturday last 12th Oct in Tramore Golf Club.23 golfers took to the course on a dry but windy day over a very demanding course.History was made when all the scores were totted up with Kevin (Dax) O Lomasney adding the Presidents Prize to his Captains Prize already secured this year.

To round of the weekend we played a 3 ball scramble on the following day in Faithlegg Golf Club with victory going to the Declan Motherway,Noel Cusack and Donal O Shea team.

Overall a great weekend was had by all,thanks to all who played and to both Tramore and Faithlegg Golf Courses for their hospitality.

Ryder Cup Vilamoura 2013

Vilamoura 2013

The annual trip to Vilamoura took place from April 25th to 30th and once again was a great success with 12 golfers travelling.

The "Ryder Cup"  competition was a very keenly contested affair with only 1 point seperating the teams after the 3 days of competition.Victory going to the Sean Motherway captained team who in the process halted Noel Cusack's teams bid for 3 in a row triumphs.( See Photo's below)

 The Society's first outing of the year was held in a bitterly cold Waterrock Golf Club on Sunday March 24th.

Despite the conditions and the unavailability of a number of regulars we had 18 golfers present on the day.Congratulations to all the prize winners as follows.

3rd Derek Eaton 35 pts.

 The rearranged Christmas outing took place in Waterock on Sunday 6th January,we  had 15 golfers on the day and played a 3 ball scramble.

Thanks to all those that took part and to Eoin of Aunty Biddies who sponsored first prize and well done to the winning team of Kieran O Shea,John Dunne and Donal O Shea who finished 4 under par.

Congratulations to Mr Paddy Dunne who won Mr Conor O Lomasney's Presidents prize and to Mr Kieran O Shea who won Mr Noel Cusack's Captains prize in Kenmare on the week-end of 20/21 Oct.Thanks to the Kenmare Golf Club who were great hosts on the day and to the Kenmare Bay Hotel for their hospitality.Congratulations to all the prize winners,the next outing will be over the Christmas break so watch out for the fixture.

 Captains and Presidents Prize 2012

The Golf Society's Captains and Presidents Prizes for 2012 are being played over the same weekend in Kenmare Golf Club on Oct 20th.

 Cost including 2 games of golf,B+B at Kenmare Bay Hotel and a bus is €150.

 

Cloyne GAA Golf Society

The above society was formed in the early nineties to organize regular games of golf for its members and friends. The society proved to be very successful and was an important social wing to the club organizing many trips outside the county.
In fact in recent times a trip to Vilamoura in Portugal has become a yearly favorite of members (see Photos below).
The society also ran a very successful Golf Classic, which provided much needed funds for the the GAA club.
